Pork Chop – Apple Kraut Dinner

Utensils:

REGULAR SKILLETS, JUMBO SKILLET, SAUTE PANS & ELECTRIC SKILLET
 

Ingredients:

  • 4 pork chops/shoulder steaks
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Winesap apples (#2 cone)
  • 1 large can sauerkraut
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 small onion (#2 cone)

Directions:

Preheat skillet on medium to high or 425 degrees for the electric skillet and brown pork chops the same as pan broiled. Drain off excess fat. Top chops with well mixed sauerkraut, caraway seed, brown sugar, onions and apple mixture. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour until meat is tender. Add dumplings if desired.
 

Dumplings (For apple kraut dinner)

UNITS: LARGE SKILLET, JUMBO SKILLET SAUTE PANS
 

  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter

 

Directions:

Sift flour, salt and baking powder twice. Work in butter, then add egg and milk. Drop by the tablespoonful on top of apple-kraut dinner. Make sure dumplings are placed on food. REDUCE THE TEMPERATURE FIRST. Never drop them in while liquid is bubbling. Don not let dumplings settle in the liquid. Bring heat back up to medium low, and then reduce to simmer. Dom not disturb for 20 minutes.
